Firstly three photos from the concert
This was a pet project for the chief magnetey.eser as Yair Dalal is an artist he has liked since his early teens.
When he got wind of the fact that he was coming to Melbourne, he made it his mission to have him perform at his synagogue.
The challenge to the event was that it would be short, at an awkward hour of 630-800pm, and it would be squeezed between other bigger events featuring Yair Dalal, such as the event at the Boite theatre happening on the same night, or the joint concert with Jordi Savall in the days before. This meant that the event had to dominate search queries via Google, for anything regarding Yair Dalal’s concert in Melbourne or Australia.
In response, Ariel co-ordinated not only the website and booking system, but he also ran a thorough social media campaign on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Google+ and Google Maps, liaised with real estate agents to have promotional banners placed in strategic locations, did leaflet drops at local businesses, and together with a newly formed team of Daphna Cohen and Andrew Harris, coordinated with local newspapers and community radio stations to have Yair Dalal promoted and interviewed.
The strategy proved itself when Google the following queries yielded:
- for “Yair Dalal concert Melbourne” the first 9 positions out of 10 on first page,
- for “Yair Dalal concert Australia” the first 6 positions out of 10 on first page, and
- for “yair dalal concert 2014” the first 7 positions out of 10 on first page.
Below is a gallery of screenshots of the searches:
Apart from the concert being a great success, we were able to appropriately remunerate the artists, just from the takings at the door, the money raised via pre-sales using the trybooking system was a pure fundraiser for the synagogue and its community.
